INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

ON

"ISLAM AND CURRENT ECONOMIC ISSUES"

    Council of Islamic Ideology is organizing an International Conference on “Islam and Current Economic Issues” on 1st and 2nd June, 2007 at the National Library Auditorium, Islamabad with an aim to analyze the views, doctrines and literature on such issues which hitherto remain unanswered. This exercise will not be primarily an academic activity towards a new research, but to evaluate the existing work and develop a consus among the scholars for practical purposes. Islamic modes of Finance, Zakat system and Islamic methods have been attempted in few area of the economy. Do such attempts are in conformity with the Islamic Principles, is an added question to be addressed. The following themes have been identified for discussion during the conference:-

    1. Analysis of the CII Reports on Elimination of Riba
    2. Islamic Banking
    3. Poverty Alleviation:- Zakat - Bait ul  Mall
    4. Nature and Role of the Government in Islam
