Council of Islamic Ideology, in its 167th meeting held in Islamabad on 24th September, 2007 expressed its deepest concern over increasing trend of domestic violence in the country. In this regard Council formerly approved the proposed bill 2007 on domestic violence for deliberation and it was decided that the Council will formulate its recommendations for this legislation on this issue. The meeting was headed by the Dr. Muhammad Khalid Masud, Chairman, Council of Islamic Ideology. Mr. Rasheed Ahmad Jalendhri, Moulana Abdullah Khilji, Dr. A.R Kamal, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Justice (R) Munir Ahmad Mughal, Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi and Dr. Mohsin Muzaffar Naqvi also participated in the meeting. The Council expressed its condolence on the rootless murder of Moulana Hassan Jan and prayed for the departed soul and demanded that the culprits may be arrested immediately and brought to justice.

Besides, the Council formally approved the proposal of training of spoken Arabic on the part of Muhammad Jasim Taqi, an eminent Iraqi scholar.
