CII launches the quarterly journal "Ijtehad" Second Issue
The launching ceremony of Council's Magzine "Ijtihad" (Second Issue: Islam and the West). was held on 29th January, 2008 at Usman Institute of Technology, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi at 6:00 pm. Dr.Manzoor Ahmad(member, Council) presided over the event. Reputed scholars, educationists across the country participated in the ceremony. Dr. Mohsin Muzaffar Naqvi(member, Council) introduced the Second Issue of the journal. Dr. Akhtar Saeed Siddiqui, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Saleem, Mr. Javed Ahmad Ghamdi and Dr. Mohammad Ali Siddiqui presented their reviews of the journal.
Reviewers stressed the need to develop dialogue between Muslims and the West. They agreed that the Journal presents an overview of Islam and the West, and provides a platform for dialogue.
Dr. Muhammad Khalid Masood (Chairman of CII) explained that with this journal, CII aims to provide a forum for discussion about current issues.
Dr. Manzoor Ahmad said that the launching ceremony of Ijtehad is a positive step and there is need to make the Islam and the west a subject of study. Council's contribution for this purpose is reverential and also stressed that this necessitates publishing more special works on the subject.
Allama Javed Ahmad Ghamdi highlighted the merits of comparative studies of Islam and West.
